Unemployed, Now What?

Wow, 3 posts in one day. A new record!

CEO walked into my office today and let me go. "Sorry kiddo, today's your last day" is what he said. Told me he's so sorry, it's not personal, in three months it may be him on the way out, etc. Gave me severance, offered to help "in any way" he could. When people say that, what exactly do they mean? You just let me go, how are you going to help me? Anyway, my now-ex boss comes in and she's crying. Great. So I spent my last few minutes there cleaning out my desk and reassuring OTHER PEOPLE that I'd be fine.

I held it together just fine, making jokes, being ME, until my husband picked me up. As soon as he put his arms around me I broke down. Mortgage, kids' tuition, debt... how? HOW are we going to do it? How long will it take me to find another job? Will I find a job that pays enough to keep my family afloat?

Unemployed, so now what?

OMG! I am so sorry.
I hope you find something soon. You are strong, vigilant and a survivor! And it is because of that that I know everything will be okay.

Oh no Jesse! That sucks! I can only hope that there is something better out there for you.

Use that severance to your advantage. Take it, use it, while you find something you really want. You are very smart, strong, and witty...use that to your advantage!

I will be praying for you! Enjoy the boys while you are home. It will all work out. Come talk if you need to!

I am so so sorry. Being a one income family this is something I worry about with the Hubs all the time. He made it through cuts in December but you never know and I am scared. I don't know what we would do either. We would be in a sinking boat.
