Got quite a busy weekend planned. Tonight is movie night at the kids' school, so we're going to see Ratatouille. The kids will spread out on sleeping bags, eat popcorn and hot dogs, and act silly for an hour and a half. Good way to spend a Friday evening.
Tomorrow morning is GB's second playoff basketball game. Go Eagles!
Tomorrow evening my husband planned a birthday dinner for me at a fun Mexican restaurant with a name I can't pronounce. No matter. How great is that?! This morning a dear friend called up and offered to treat me to a birthday tattoo before dinner (seeing as it's across the street from my usual tattoo shop anyway) What an AWESOME bday gift!
Looking forward to getting out of work, spending some fun times with family and friends - and then sleeping in on Sunday! :)
And now, for your thought provoking pleasure....
Phrases I can’t stand
1) It is what it is ~ And just what the fuck is THAT??
2) On the fly ~ as in, “You can make changes on the fly” I can’t help but picture Jeff Goldblum.
3) Good to go ~ Some people end every sentence with this. Example “I got my coffee and I was good to go. Once you get that TPS report, you’ll be good to go.”
4) I’m the kind of person that… ~ Know what? If you have to tell me, I don’t care. I should be able to see it for myself.
5) At the end of the day… ~ Oh shut up.
6) All things happen for a reason ~ No, they don’t.
Phrases I like
1) Something’s rotten in Denmark ~ I don’t even know what that means.
2) Jesus Tapdancing Christ! ~ Don’t know where this came from. Possibly South Park.
3) Fat girlfriend ~ Something you do that you’d be ashamed to tell your friends about. Like collecting used band aids.
Okay, so I guess there aren’t many phrases I like. Maybe next week I’ll share my favorite movie quotes. Now THAT could go on forever.

Songs and Smiles
Ever hear a song that unfailingly makes you think of one person? There are four songs that will always make me stop and smile, and think of my Golden Boy. Here they are, in no particular order:
3 Doors Down ~ Kryptonite
Golden Boy never listened to typical toddler favorites. He liked top 40. This was one of the first songs to which he learned all the words. Just for fun, I’ll tell you that the first pop song I remember learning from the radio was by Air Supply. Holy Jesus I’m old.
Gorillaz ~ Clint Eastwood
He sang this song day after day for months. Made up lyrics where he couldn’t quite understand them.
Ozzy Osbourne ~ Iron Man
This was in his headbanging/potty training period. Just the opening chords were enough to make him happy.
Aerosmith ~ Don’t Want to Miss a Thing, Armageddon Soundtrack
The movie Armageddon came out right around the time he was born, it was the first movie I went to see afterwards. I saw 25th anniversary re-release of Grease with one of my best friends the night before I had him, and she’s the same one who came to sit with him while I went to see Armageddon with my grandmother. Anyway, the song perfectly sums up how I’ve felt about him since the moment I knew I was going to be a momma.

Midweek Update
Yesterday I woke up with a sore throat. Today I am officially sick. Last night that nice man I married picked up cough drops and Puffs Plus (with Vicks right on the tissues!) for me, then he tucked in the little guys while I amused myself by letting the demented and defctive cat chase a laser pointer thing. This morning he let me sleep while he got them up and moving, and he made coffee. When I get home from work I will drink half a bottle of Nyquil and go back to bed, leaving him with the kiddies once again. I hope they enjoy this time together.
We will return to our regularly scheduled blog soon.
That is all.

Things I'm Excited About
The small Converse clothing line at Target. Got the denim motorcycle style jacket this weekend. LOVE it.
Jodi Picoult's next book, Change of Heart. And the movie of her book, My Sister's Keeper. She is such an amazing storyteller.
Diet Cherry Chocolate Dr. Pepper
Golden Boy's basketball team won the second playoff game yesterday. Next weekend is the last round of eliminations....
Finishing the color I started on my hair. Bleached out some streaks but by the time I was done it was 11pm, so I didn't follow up with the crimson color. So now my hair is brown, red and yellow. I look like a demented Muppet.
Progress on my first floor bathroom. Long story, but it had to be completely ripped out. DH has just finished the plumbling for the new shower, which is replacing the old tub. We picked up some rockin tile for the shower, too.
Getting a new bag, 2 new shirts, 3 used books and this candleholder at Goodwill for a whopping $13. I didn't realize that Goodwill out in the suburbs actually gets a ton of overstock from Target and NY & Co. which they turn around and sell to me for $3 each.
Ah, excitement abounds.
