Charity Fatigue

Besides my own foundation, and my kids school, I'm a total push over for charity. Save the spotted owl. Save the midgets. Three year old from Borneo who has no spleen. Name a park after child with brain cancer. Maybe donating $5 makes me feel better. It's not an altruism thing here, it just makes me feel better.

Next time my kids wants something, they had better come up with a good "cause" name for it. The Children Without a Wii Fund. The Spare Me From Green Beans Foundation. The Momma Has Punished Me For No Reason Club. And especially the But I Took A Bath Three Days Ago! Foundation.

As a matter of fact, I'm heading out right now (well not RIGHT NOW but when I'm done here) to go to a charity event at Bloomingdales. I can't even afford to shop at Bloomingdales. There are whole WEEKS when I don't have two nickels to rub together -always loved that phrase, but hated living it!- and here I am talking about donating money. I'd be better off to donate blood and organs. I have lots of those. How about snide remarks?? Is anyone collecting those? Cynical observations?? Have those in abundance.

No one's collecting those yet, eh? In that case I'm off to work for charity. Then tomorrow I start the Save Momma's Sanity Fund.
